I am &c. to acknowledge
receipt of your letter of the 2nd
of December on the subject of the
treatment of juvenile offenders in
Hong Kong, and to inform you that
the figures quoted in the enclosure
to your letter are correct, except as
regards the number of girls charged
with hawking, which is understood
not
to be 73, instead of 37.

As a result of that debate the
Government of Hong Kong appointed a Committee
to consider the constitution of Courts
to deal with juvenile offenders, and this
a
Committee will consider the model Ordinance
on the subject which was sent to all Colonies
after the Colonial Office Conference, 1930.
I am to add that an Industrial
School for Boys is being established in Hong
+hat
Kong by the Salesian Fathers, towarde which
the Government of the Colony has decided to
contribute. Ossist the School.
